End of Term 1 Reflection.

I came into the year excited for art. I am not the best at it by I enjoy it. Art has been going really good. I have liked most of the projects that we have done in class. My favorite has been the robot magazine college. I have learned how to do a lot of things this term. I learned how to draw from general to specific and also to not over think my work and worry about how it looks during the process but only when its done. My favorite and most successful art piece was the magazine college . I really like to use random bright colors and weird patterns and I feel like I did good job making everything different but come together nicely. My biggest changes that I know haven't came out so nice is the observation drawings. I plan to practice it more so I can become a better artist. An other thing I have to work with is to do everything with an open mind and not care about how it looks so I don't get frustrated. The term has been great and I can't wait until the spring to have art class.

Chair With Coat.

To me it was harder. It wasn't a free flowing thing you had to draw that object; The chair. Also The fabric on the chair.

The skill was drawing from general to specific. Getting the shape of the coat first. Then going back and seeing the brightness, and also how to use the brightness to make the waves of the coat.

Principles of Design Research

The picture that I look at was Dempsey and Firpo  by George Bellows
 In the picture he uses
MOVEMENT.  Boxing is a very active sport and in this picture one of the boxers just finished punching the other and the one that got punched is falling out of the ring. Another thing he uses is PROPORTION using CONTRAST. Everything around the two boxers is dark ; the back round is black. Then the two boxers are much lighter making them be the first ones seen. EMPHASIZING them by PLACING   putting in the middle of the picture. The BALANCE is ASYMMETRY with the fans.

Fabric Drawings.

I think it went ok. Its hard to draw all the folds so that it actually looks like fabric. I think both weeks were hard , but it  two different things, From sticks to fabric.

The feed back I got was that i should add a mouth, and that i should find a way to connect the head to the body. Another things is getting the only sculpture together and standing.

pile of sticks.

I think it went alright. The easy part was making the general. Then the branches that went out of the top and sides. The hardest part was trying to pull to the individuals  branches in the middle.  I think the out come was decent , it wasn't the easiest thing to draw.

Mid-term Reflection

I think that my engagement in class is pretty good. I enjoy art class and I look forward to it durning the day. I do my best and put as much effort as I can on my project because I like seeing a good result.
In art so far I have done my pour painting ninja , A ninja flip book , The robot magazine collage , and last but not least The sculptor of a pirate.
Out of school we do sketch books. In my sketch book so far I have done ; A magazine college with things I like. I did a drawing of the famous painting "The Scream" . Wrote my name out using shadowing. I cut circles into the page so it looks like a dice. Another thing I did was make a huge spiral , starting from the middle of the page and going out into the edge. A other thing I did which I do a lot when I'm bored on work sheets is write my name. Write my signature , my full name written in different ways, and a few more.
Every tuesday morning we " stop everything and draw " We always draw still life. From small like acorns and building block to big paper structures with twist and turns and a billion of folds. Something we work on was lighting and shading. How to draw the objects when the sun is hitting one side of it and really bring it to life, adding shadows. The hardest of the still life's were when Mrs. Robert's would add things and take it away. We started with one jar then adding things like string, wood, blocks , pans , and others. and at points she would take some of the things out. So we would have to work fast drawing from general to specific. To add things and to take things out when necessary .
Lastly I want to say is that I'm enjoying art and I am having fun in class. Also thanks for letting us listen to music it helps :)

The Changing Still Life

One of the things I had to do was just draw . Not caring about how it would turn out. Just drawing what is there. Another thing I had to do was to try to put everything in the right place so when the next thing came in I would have space for it. Lastly erasing the things and when I did that adding n defining what is still there.

Found Images Collage Reflection

The concept of my project was to be colorful , random and funny. I wanted to use a bunch of different things  that coming together could form one thing . Take bright colors and put them in with random objects like toys and a mountain and make them one body part. Taking things you wouldn't see together , different patterns and make one big robot with it like my original image.
The cool thing in my project was I could get what ever I wanted to. What I did was the more colorful the better. Things with cool designs and patterns . Anything that caught my eye I tried using. I tried to put all different colors in each body part.
I think the whole thing came out great , You can see all the different things but it looks good all together, and thats what i was trying to do :)

- Thats its good.
- Like the different type of things
- Thinks I should put some sort of paper to make it harder so it doesn't wobble/
- Likes the robot
- Think its ties with the original idea

three forms drawing

We this drawing today I have learned a bit more about how to draw using brightness and darkness. Making the picture come alive depending on where it is light or dark. Seeing how the shades make the picture and how you can tell a lot about A picture when you do this all right

Pour Paintings

For me it was really cool because I didn't know what shape there were going to form and it could really turn out into anything. Also i was a bit nervous I wouldn't get any images and I would be stuck.

My picture was a big, black, blob, kind of centered with 3 lines going to the right and I thought it could be a body of some sort. Then I saw like a head shape with hair and I deiced to make it a ninja. But I couldn't just keep it at that . so I made him like jumping over a fire almost falling in.

Collaborative Drawings.

In the beginning it was a bit weird stoping and getting away from my painting for some one else to go on and paint whatever they wanted, because I had no clue if there gonna mess up my ideas. If they were gonna draw on top of what I already did or if they were just going to add crazy things on it.
When I return I liked it but didn't.  There were some new good ideas but there were some weird combinations. I kinda painted over everything making a nice color and restoring my idea.

Talk & Draw

Today you were the "drawer" and you were the "describer".
What was challenging about this experience? What would you do differently if you had to do this activity again?

Today , I was the describer first. So what I had to do was be the eyes and mind of the drawer. The challenging part of this was describing the objects without using its proper name , and saying how big it was, the angle of it , and how it was in proportion  to everything else. But then  was the drawer. It was a bit easier because I knew some of the things that would be there. So when he started telling me what it is I already had an idea of it. The challenging part was drawing it the size it really was and the location it was when there was a few things bunched up.

Who is an artist?

Anyone can be an artist , by doing any form of art. Music , Theater , painting ..etc

To be creative is thinking out side the box. Not doing the " normal " thing  , or what everyone else is doing.
For one to be an productive and creative artist one has to not be afraid of expressing his feelings. This person should not be worried about what anyone thinks. You also have put heart in your work because that is when it comes out the best. Working to your full potential.

Reflecting on blocks, play dough, and finger paint.

Today I started of by finger painting. I got my favorite color and moved my hand up and down , side to side in the paint. Then I made hand prints all over my paper. I did this a few more times with other cools making hand prints all over the place. Dabbing paint on the paper and moving my fingers around the edges .
